Crafting an Immersive Brand Experience
Overview
The Ames History Center was conceived as a permanent, immersive brand experience—one designed to translate more than 60 years of company history into a cohesive, modern narrative environment.
The goal was not to create a traditional museum, but a living brand space that honored legacy while reinforcing Ames Construction’s culture, values, and continued evolution. The experience needed to resonate emotionally, operate within real-world constraints, and function as both an internal touchstone and an external storytelling platform.
EldrBrandr Role
Creative Direction • Experiential Strategy • Spatial Narrative Lead
Led the full creative vision from concept through execution—defining the narrative framework, spatial storytelling approach, and experiential system while coordinating cross-functional teams and vendor partners.
The Challenge
How do you transform a construction company’s history into an immersive experience that feels relevant, human, and forward-looking?
The space needed to move beyond static displays to become a story visitors could physically move through—one that captured craftsmanship, ingenuity, and the people behind the work. At the same time, budget, timeline, and logistical constraints required disciplined creative decision-making and efficient execution.
The Approach
A narrative-driven experiential strategy that balanced emotional storytelling with operational clarity—designed to translate history into a space people could move through, not just read about.
Story as Architecture
Developed a clear narrative spine that guided visitors chronologically and thematically—from early beginnings through modern innovation—ensuring each space contributed meaningfully to the overall story.
Visual & Experiential Concepting
Developed a modular experiential system integrating spatial layout, large-scale typography, photography, video, and curated artifacts into a cohesive narrative environment. Each element was designed to reinforce the story while remaining durable, adaptable, and easy to evolve over time.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Led and aligned more than ten internal teams and external partners—coordinating writers, fabricators, videographers, editors, and digital specialists to deliver a unified experience. Strong vendor relationships and disciplined creative oversight ensured efficiency without compromising quality or intent.
The Result
A cohesive, immersive brand environment that brought Ames Construction’s legacy to life while reinforcing its values, culture, and future direction. The experience established a durable storytelling platform that strengthened internal pride and alignment, created an emotionally resonant way to share the Ames story with visitors and partners, balanced creative ambition with operational and budget realities, and delivered a scalable experiential framework designed to evolve with future exhibits and updates.
